The winner of the Freda Newlove Trophy for the Best 4 out of 6 cumulative scores in the Winter 9 Hole Competition, was our Lady Captain Susan Keefe. Well done Sue on a consistent performance for the whole competition maintaining a lead throughout! Thank you to all for your continued support. Once again we were lucky with the weather without any of the competitions having to be postponed as in past years.

Now our attention is turned to the Season proper which, for the Seniors Section, continues with our second 18 Hole Competition on 26th April. Congratulations to Jackie Mitchell for just pipping Jim Young on a Card Play Off to win the first Comp! Matches with Local Clubs have now started . Watch out for the advance notices on the Seniors Notice Board 3 weeks prior to the scheduled date for each match and record your interest to play. We try very hard to give as many as possible a chance to play so don’t give up if, at your first attempt, you don’t get into the team.

Anyone in doubt about the Fixtures, a copy is displayed on the Notice Board in the Gentleman’s Locker Room and can also be downloaded, as above. We are always on the lookout for new Team Players so please don’t be bashful!

This year’s Veterans Trophy is scheduled for Tuesday 24th May where, no doubt, David Collins will be looking to retain his title! following last year’s success!

Seniors Open 6th June so we hope you can invite as many of your friends as possible to sample the delights and warm welcome ot AoMGC. Seniors Championship on 12th July with our Away Day, at Haydock Park, scheduled for 11th August. A full programme to anticipate.

Good Luck to you all and here’s hoping for a dry, sunny and enjoyable season! A particular mention to those of our Section who have been unable to play, through ill health or injury, and we wish you a speedy recovery and an early return to 18 holes if not, initially, to the 19th !! – Happy Golfing
